Visit Camping Ca’Savio in low season: a great opportunity for your holiday!

Are you planning to visit Ca’Savio during the low season and are you wondering what to do during your holiday? Read on and discover the great possibilities offered by our surroundings during less busy periods!
The low season, thanks to long stretched days and warm weather, is the best period to discover our beautiful surroundings through wonderful day trips. You can join great tours by bike or boat in the lagoon or simply ride your bicycle to the old villages of Lio Piccolo, Saccagnana and Mesole whilst you admire the charming lagoon landscape with its typical sand banks and fish valleys.

These are the best locations for the bird watching or to enjoy the untouched nature of Cavallino Treporti at the sunset.

Other places to visit by bike are:

  • Treporti, stop here to visit the SS. Trinità Church (16th century) and its two bell towers
  • Punta Sabbioni, which houses the pier to Venice, the ancient fort dating back to the Austrian domination and a long promenade to the lighthouse with a fantastic view of the lagoon
  • Cavallino, with St. Maria Elisabetta Church (18th century) overlooking the square and the 48 meters high lighthouse located on the mouth of the Sile river
  • The fortification systems along the coastline of Cavallino-Treporti, as Amalfi Battery, Mandracio Barracks, Ca’Pasquali Barracks, San Marco Battery and Vettor Pisani Battery, built to defend Venice first during the Austrian domination and later during both World Wars.

Venice and the islands of Burano, Murano and Torcello are easily accessible from the campsite. The two piers of Punta Sabbioni and Treporti are far from the campsite only 3-4 kilometers. You can get there by car, by bike or by bus and leave around every half an hour! Venice, with its canals and museums, and the islands of Burano, Murano and Torcello, with their prestigious art of lace and glass working and ancient historical artifacts dating back to the birth of Venice, worth well a visit especially during the off-season when they are less crowed and the temperature is not very hot!

Are you travelling with kids? There is a lot to do, also for young kids! In Jesolo you will find the Sealife Aquarium, the Tropicarium Park, the Natural History museum and the museum of Military History. Also Venice and the lagoon islands can be visited with kids: you only have to travel light and choose the best paths and places for you! A little far from us, but it’s not impossible to spend there a day, you will find the amusement park of Gardaland
If you are a sport lover, don’t miss the chance to jogging on the beach early in the morning, along the around 13 km long pedestrian and cycle lane which connects Punta Sabbioni to Cavallino or surrounded by the lagoon landscape of Lio Piccolo, Saccagnana and Mesole.

Not far from the campsite you can also drive go-karts, play tennis and golf or rent electric boats and canoes for excursions in the lagoon of Cavallino-Treporti.
Do you want to spend few hours doing shopping? Visit the weekly markets in Cavallino (on Tuesdays), in Treporti (on Thursdays) or in Jesolo (on Fridays) where you can by food, souvenirs and clothes and much more. Also the nearby city of Jesolo offers you the opportunity to do shopping in the many shops along Via Bafile or in the outdoor shopping center located close to the main road and the many attractions of the city. Are you looking instead for big shopping malls? In less than an hour you can reach by car several shopping centers located in San Donà di Piave, Marcon, Noventa di Piave and Mestre and of course don’t forget Venice, with its shops for all budgets!
If you have enough time and you are willing to travel a little bit, get the chance to visit to the art cities as Treviso, Padua, Verona, Vicenza, Trieste and the Dolomites! You will fall in love with them…

Weather in Cavallino-Treporti

One of the topics about Ca’Savio that for sure arouses a great curiosity in our guests are the weather conditions.

wetter in cavallino treporti

Before leaving, many people check the weather forecasts for their holiday period or ask us information during their stay, in order to chose the best day for their excursions.
We would like to start by saying that, it is hard to make perfectly correct forecasts for seaside destinations as Cavallino-Treporti, where the weather can change quickly and depends on the wind, the sea, the humidity and many other factors.

Here a table with some data (source climate-data.org):

weather in ca'savio

The approximate data reported here above, are useful to know more about the weather of Cavallino-Treporti and the changes of its temperature over the year.
Winter is usually not very cold or rainy, but it can be foggy and therefore humid. Sometimes it snows, but not so often and for a long time.
Spring starts quite soon (between the end of March and the beginning of April) and the temperature increases around 4 degrees per month from March to June. This is the best period to discover by bike our beautiful surroundings or visit Venice: warm weather and few crowed places will wait for you! (–> check our spring offers!)
Summer explodes in mid-June until even the end of September, when the daytime temperature can reach 23-24 degrees but the evenings are cooler. During the summer season you can enjoy long sunny days –  perfect for a swim in our sea, for sunbathing on our sandy beach or having fun in our swimming pools – and warm evenings when you can have a open-air dinner with your family or taste a glass of wine with your friends.
This year the campsite will be open until October 07 to let you enjoy until the end our warm weather with very competitive prices! Autumn will start shortly after (around mid-October) and another season will be passed…

15 years holidays spent at camping Ca’Savio – A faithful guest’s tale

During the last months many guests sent us beautiful photos of their past holidays in Ca’Savio and helped us in telling the Ca’Savio story.
Today we would like to thank all for the great support through this tale sent us by an Hungarian guest, Levente Erős, a tale full of emotions and memories about Levente’s 15 years long holidays spent at Camping Ca’Savio, told first through the eyes of a child and then of an adult.
The story starts in 1992, when Levente, at the age of 8, spent his first holiday in Ca’Savio with his mum and Enikő, his 5 years old sister. He writes: “I saw the sea for the very first time in my life, and was amazed how endless it was, and how it touches the sky on the horizon. It was just unbelievable. I also remember how interesting it was to taste its salty water. I also flew a kite for the first time on that sandy beach with my little sister”.

“This was our first time on a sandy beach”

“… Our first-ever kite flying on the beach” in Cavallino

“Our first-ever kite flying on the beach”

Then he continues: “Oh and also, seeing those nice camper cars and caravans in Camping Ca’Savio throughout the years, and staying in some of your caravans, I decided at a very early age that I will buy a caravan when I get older… and this summer I’ll make my childhood dream come true and become a caravaner.  And this all started in Ca’Savio 🙂”.

“… With our mom in the camping… I just loved walking under these trees, and mostly under those tall stone pine trees that we don't have here, in Hungary”

“… With our mom in the camping… I just loved walking under these trees, and mostly under those tall stone pine trees that we don’t have here, in Hungary”

Levente and his family came back one year later, in 1993. They spent their holiday in a caravan located behind the Mini Bungalows (do you remember them?)

He writes: “Our Skoda 120L and our bikes are also in the photo. All of them are the products of the Eastern block (except for my new mountain bike which is hard to see behind my sister’s bike). It was only 3 years after our Western borders opened!”.

“My sister and me having dinner, playing badminton and playing on the playground behind the main pool”

Then he continues: “So it was here, in Camping Ca’Savio that I finally learned how to ride a bike having a men’s frame, and learned it on this very bike!”.

One year later, in 1994, after a long and troubled journey, Levente and his family finally got to Ca’Savio and spent their holiday in a Mini Bungalow, a small stone bungalow located close to the toilets blocks in street 13. He started soon to join the entertainment’s activities organized by the campsite, met new friends and enjoyed with his sister the new swimming pool located in the pinewood.

Levente tells us more: “Our next year in Ca’Savio was 1996. we just come from riding the same bike. This was a technique we developed in Camping Ca’Savio. I was sitting on the saddle, and steering, while my sister was pedalling and holding the steering bar in the middle. This is how we could ride the same bike at the same time 🙂”.

Many years passed and Levente returned to Ca’Savio in 2002, when he was 18 and just finished the high school. He stayed again in a caravan located at the very back of the campsite and had fun with his sister at the main swimming pool as every teen-agers do.

The last time he came back to Ca’Savio was on 2007 after he finished the university. This time Levente spent his holiday with his mum and sister as usual, but also came his grandma and Boldi, his youngest cousin. He writes: “My cousin was 8 at that time, just like I was, when we first came to Camping Ca’Savio. 15 years have passed”.

“In 2007 we were sitting on the balcony of our Bungalow Comfort. The photo was taken by my sister”

“In 2007 we were sitting on the balcony of our Bungalow Comfort. The photo was taken by my sister”

Levente ends his tale telling us his affection for Ca’Savio: “I remember how I couldn’t wait for the summer to go to Camping Ca’Savio again, and how enthusiastically I told my classmates how great this place was. Camping Ca’Savio is a children’ paradise (and adults’ paradise too). I remember, how we loved just riding around, and discovering yet unknown parts of the Camping with my sister, how we loved to go to the pools, the beach, the pizzeria, the gelateria, and the evening programmes. And now, after 10 years that I rushed through, I really would like to go back! So hopefully, I’ll see you soon :)”

Levente’s memories about his past holidays in Ca’Savio are the memories that many other guests have.

At Ca’Savio, in the last 50 years, many kids saw the sea for the first time, learned to ride bicycle, met new friends and had exciting experiences. And the story goes on year by year from father to son. We are very proud of all our faithful guests, as Levente, who love so much our campsite and come every year to visit us.
Thank you to everybody and hope to see you soon in Ca’Savio!

This year the Jujube Festival will take place on September 18 on the square of Lio Piccolo. Music, food stands and entertainment for everyone will be available all day long. We suggest you to reach the festival by bike or by the shuttle service departing from the village of Saccagnana.
