One of the topics about Ca’Savio that for sure arouses a great curiosity in our guests are the weather conditions.

wetter in cavallino treporti

Before leaving, many people check the weather forecasts for their holiday period or ask us information during their stay, in order to chose the best day for their excursions.
We would like to start by saying that, it is hard to make perfectly correct forecasts for seaside destinations as Cavallino-Treporti, where the weather can change quickly and depends on the wind, the sea, the humidity and many other factors.

Here a table with some data (source climate-data.org):

weather in ca'savio

The approximate data reported here above, are useful to know more about the weather of Cavallino-Treporti and the changes of its temperature over the year.
Winter is usually not very cold or rainy, but it can be foggy and therefore humid. Sometimes it snows, but not so often and for a long time.
Spring starts quite soon (between the end of March and the beginning of April) and the temperature increases around 4 degrees per month from March to June. This is the best period to discover by bike our beautiful surroundings or visit Venice: warm weather and few crowed places will wait for you! (–> check our spring offers!)
Summer explodes in mid-June until even the end of September, when the daytime temperature can reach 23-24 degrees but the evenings are cooler. During the summer season you can enjoy long sunny days –  perfect for a swim in our sea, for sunbathing on our sandy beach or having fun in our swimming pools – and warm evenings when you can have a open-air dinner with your family or taste a glass of wine with your friends.
This year the campsite will be open until October 07 to let you enjoy until the end our warm weather with very competitive prices! Autumn will start shortly after (around mid-October) and another season will be passed…

Places to visit in Cavallino-Treporti: “le contrade”

Are you planning to spend a holiday in Cavallino-Treporti and are you looking to find more information about places worth a visit during your stay more than the beach and the sea?

We suggest you to visit the 12 outlyings of the town in order to discover wonderful places sometimes very close to Camping Ca’Savio…

Cavallino

Cavallino is the outlying that gave its name to the coast and it is the first one you find after the bridge on Sile River if you drive from the nearby Jesolo. In the centre of the town you can find the ancient Palazzo Padronale of the beginning of the 17th century and the old Church of Santa Maria Elisabetta, built at the beginning of the 18th century. In Cavallino there is also one of the two lighthouses of Cavallino-Treporti (the other one is in Punta Sabbioni), which was built for military purposes in 1846 by the Austrian Government but soon became an important reference point for navigation around the coast. Destroyed by the German army during II World War, it was rebuilt between 1949 and 1951 by the Venice Civil Engineers.

Treporti

The name “Treporti” dates back to the Middle Ages: at that time there were three harbors in that area (in Italian Tre Porti). In Treporti you can still find the typical lagoon farm landscape characterized by small canals and several old farmhouses. The Church of SS. Trinità worths well a visit: you will recognize it for sure because it has two bell towers, one of the late 16th century and another one going back to the 20th century. In front of the church, on Thursdays you can visit the weekly market: a good opportunity to buy the local products.

Ca’di Valle

Ca’di Valle is the first village you meet, after Cavallino, along via Fausta. Until a few decades ago this territory was made up of ponds connected to the sea and the lagoon, once used as fish farms. The name of the village, refering to the fishermen’s home, was given by the military commands during the I World War. Ca’di Valle is also known for the several shops, bars and good restaurants located there.

Ca’ Ballarin & Ca’Pasquali

Ca’ Ballarin is a village that extends from the lagoon to the sea. While the part closest to the lagoon, still called “Settecasoni”, was characterized by old houses with a reed roof, the town built near the main road Via Fausta has a recent origin. Ca’Ballarin is a quiet residential area where you can find also good restaurants.

Ca’Pasquali is located in the middle of the coastline of Cavallino-Treporti. If you drive on the main road Via Fausta you will see here the typical red farmhouses going back the 40’s. Close to the lagoon, along Pordelio road, you will see instead many Telemetry towers as Torre Vignotto, Torre Radaelli, Torre Ca’Padovan and Torre Crepaldo located between Ca’Ballarin and Ca’Pasquali. On these towers, built during the I World War, were placed telemeters to measure the distance of the target enemy and then to report it to the four powerful coastal batteries called Amalfi, Pisani, San Marco and Radaelli.

forti cavallino treporti

Ca’ Vio

Ca’ Vio is one of the biggest villages of Cavallino, with many areas dedicated to the cultivation of vegetables but also some important military buildings of the I World War, as the Telemetric Tower San Marco, the battery San Marco near the beach and the Mandraccio Barrack close to the lagoon. The church of Sacro Cuore di Gesù, located close to Via Fausta, is the heart of the life of the village.

cavallino treporti panorama

Ca’ Savio

Ca ‘Savio is the most populated village of the municipality even if it is one of the youngest. As for other villages of the coast, the origin of its name goes back to the I World War. Also here you can find military historical buildings as the Amalfi Battery and the Pisani Battery.

Batteria Pisani a Ca' Savio

Batteria Pisani a Ca’ Savio

Punta Sabbioni & Lio Grando

Punta Sabbioni and Lio Grando are the youngest villages of the municipality. Their territory, located at the southern end of the coast, has developped only in the 20th century, after the construction of the dike of the harbour of Venice. Along the promenade Dante Alighieri lies the Punta Sabbioni lighthouse, a landmark for tourists and for boats going to the Venice. Here you can admire one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the coast, awarded UNESCO Heritage Sites in 1987 as Venice. Punta Sabbioni is known also as place of departure of the boats to Venice, Lido of Venice, Burano and Murano and for the agricultural activities specialized in the production of artichokes, melons, tomatoes etc… If you are in Punta Sabbioni, remember to visit the Forte Vecchio Battery, a red brick and white stone of Istria building, built by the Austrians between 1845 and 1851 to defend one of the entrances to Venice. It has been modified during the I World War and it is the best preserved fortification of the north lagoon. The building can be visited only from the outside.

Saccagnana & Mesole

The island of Saccagnana hosts the water terminal called “Ricevitoria of Treporti” where you can catch the ferries to Burano, Murano, Torcello and Venice (Fondamenta Nuove). In Saccagnana you can see a small Venetian villa of the 16th century, known as Casa Padronale Zanella, and a typical country court, called “Piazza del Pra“, made by a group of buildings located around the square. The Casa Padronale Zanella, has been completely renovated between 1996 and 1998 and can be visited only from the outside as the other buildings of the village.

Saccagnana Piazza del Pra

Saccagnana Piazza del Pra

If you drive far from Saccagnana, the roads become increasingly narrow and you will be surrounded by the lagoon landscape characterized by sand banks and many birds as flamingos, egrets etc… At the junction you must decide whether to go: Lio Piccolo or Mesole? Mesole is a village of ancient origins: its most famous building is the Convent with round shaped chimneys – called Casa Rui. The name of the Convent of Mesole refers to an ancient convent built in 1380 just in this town. Close to the convent there is a small oratory of the 17th century called Oratory of Santa Maria del Carmine.

Lio Piccolo

Lio Piccolo, located in the north of Cavallino and surrounded by the waters of the lagoon and the fish farms, is one of the oldest villages of Cavallino-Treporti dating back to the Roman times. The 17th century church dedicated to S. Maria della Neve and the small square with Palazzetto Boldù (the first construction dates back to the late 17th century) are the most known buildings of this village. Lio Piccolo is the ideal place for a bike ride or to take beautiful pictures of the landscape, thanks to the many birds that live here.
